Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems OperatorThe Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator will perform relevant and related services at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.Key Job FunctionsOperate sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewageMonitor control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewageObserve variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirementsStart and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processesMaintain log of operations and record meter readingsGive directions to sewage-disposal workers in performing routine operations and maintenanceCollect sewage samples using dipper or bottle and conduct laboratory tests using testing equipment, such as colorimeterPerforms other related duties as requiredQualificationsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentMust have at least 3 years of experience in operating water and/or wastewater systems.Must be licensed as Maryland (MD) Water Treatment (class T) and/or MD Wastewater Treatment (Class W5); OR must have at least 3 years of experience of operating Water and/or Wastewater systems, and have a different license classification from the State of MD and have the ability to acquire the required licenses within 6 monthsClass D1 Distribution System License is highly recommended and valuedMust have thorough experience of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) water systems operations, maintenance, and reporting requirementsMust submit license(s) with resumeMust be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English languageMust be able to pass a government background checkCompetencies for SuccessTeamworkResults orientation/operational excellenceHolding self and other accountableOperational business thinkingAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.CMI is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
