HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment. Essential Functions: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to manufacture parts or products. Supervise work teams and individuals in the areas of responsibilities of manufacturing to meet customer quality and on-time delivery needs. Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs. Schedule and/or approve overtime and vacations. Manages teams by establishing monthly and quarterly performance goals Assist in setting and achieving productivity and quality targets for the various teams. Coach team or manufacturing personnel in their continuous improvement efforts. Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met. Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications. Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Maintains time and production records. Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials. Review daily production reports and forms. Attend Daily Manufacturing Review Meeting Support Manufacturing Manager in meeting department goals and objectives. Essential Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and employees. Highly organized and detail oriented; with excellent time management skills. , Qualifications Basic Qualifications: +3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Experience with the manufacturing of precision machined metal components Experience in a machine shop Experience with TPS/ Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing principles and programs Experience in the aerospace industry Additional Requirements: Must be able to work on site in Torrance, California Must be able to work on the 2nd Shift Approximate start time: 2:00 PM Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends depending on business needs Able to lift 15-25lbs.
