Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Millwright - Fernandina Beach Mill Relocation assistance may be provided! Career Opportunity: The successful Smurfit Westrock team member will be working in a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation. Employees must comply with all safety regulations and practices. Smurfit Westrock is a team based environment. We offer a competitive benefits package; Hourly rates range from $40.28 to $45.67 (shift), health, life, dental and vision plans, 401(K), Pension and employee assistance program, paid Holidays & Vacation (1-3 weeks based on experience). Relocation ($5,000 net) offered to eligible candidates.
Mechanical - Understanding of and experience with reading drawings, Bills of Materials, parts identification, planning and scheduling
- Determine work procedures to assemble, dismantle and overhaul machinery and equipment
- Work with a wide variety of precision tools
- Perform a variety of maintenance related tasks in connection with the maintenance, repair and/or improvement to equipment
- Able to troubleshoot, PM, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Laser align equipment, rebuild pumps, change machine bearings, operate cutting torch, weld plate and pipe, safely troubleshoot and repair hydraulic components, etc.
- Expertise with common paper mill equipment/components such as: conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, rolls bearings, seals, chains, sprockets, couplings, cylinders, valves, etc.
- Operate equipment such as hoists, cranes, fork-lifts, welding machines, burning rigs, etc.
What you need to succeed: - High School diploma or G.E.D.
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Have a minimum of 2 years full-time or part-time work experience in the last 4 years
- Demonstrated the drive to achieve and have upward movement in various jobs
- Self-motivated desire to learn
- Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, around heat, noise, work inside/outside, etc.
- Has the mechanical, mathematical, and verbal aptitude to learn positions
- Proven record of performance
- Play by the rules and work well with others
- Able to complete and submit an employment application online
- Able to operate in heavy manufacturing site and work variable schedule and overtime as needed.
