Lab Administrator
Location: Quincy, Washington (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
A Lab Administrator is responsible for managing and resolving a high volume of trouble tickets from personnel across the organization. This role involves providing technical support for software development infrastructure, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of lab equipment. This is an onsite, night shift position operating from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM PST.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network and computer equipment.
- Perform software re-installations on various lab devices.
- Add new devices to the internal database system and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Troubleshoot and replace malfunctioning hardware components.
- Build, modify, and document topologies between devices.
- Build and deploy Virtual Machines using platforms such as OpenStack or ESX vCenter.
- Manage the receiving, stocking, and issuing of electronic and mechanical components.
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure record accuracy.
- Process RMA requests, including asset tracking and transfers.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment, which includes physical tasks like cable management and equipment racking.
Required Qualifications
Education: A technical bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of three years of related experience in Software Development or Support is required.
Technical Skills: - Basic UNIX skills.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP concepts, including CIDR, router, gateway, IP, and DNS.
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot JUNOS-based routers and other networking products.
- Proficiency in the physical de-racking, moving, and re-racking of network equipment.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position requiring work during the third shift, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $22.00 and $27.00 per hour. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Overtime and Double Time rates are applicable as per standard policy.
